Mastering Motherhood

When I was a kid, I always imagined I’d be a master. The subject of my mastery always varied from time to time but the skill level never wavered. I pictured myself a head engineer for NASA, a Supreme Court judge, a musician with the Philharmonic, or maybe a foreign ambassador. Life seemed like a glittering mass of potential and possibility.
The world caught up with me, however, and dimmed the lights a bit. Every great goal or dream I’d once had seemed just a little too far-fetched even though clearly they were attainable because someone, somewhere had filled the positions. Every # year plan had too many steps and never panned out. Nothing was to be taken at face value and no one was to be depended upon to reach any goal.
Now that I’m a mom things are different. Life is full of possibilities again. I want to be and do so much. At the risk of sounding cliché, Critter has given me a new lease on life. I have a 5 year plan again! I still hesitate to trust anyone but I’m learning to reach out for things.

So, as this is an introductory post here are a few things that will make your understanding of me more clear:

I’m Pagan
I’m gay
I am an Attached Parent
I cloth diaper and do all sorts of other nifty crunchy things
I’m a vegetarian and so is my son (my mother is too she just refuses to admit it)
I’m going to be a vegan by the end of this year!
I’m unemployed
I’m overweight (I’ll be posting about my weight-loss journey here as well)
and finally: I love being a mother!

There it is. That’s me! Bundled into an overly simplified list of hobbies, lifestyles, interests, and faults. I’m also trying to cut down (eliminate) my terrible habit of yelling. I’ve been following this blog in the hopes that I’ll one day be brave enough to take the challenge! That’s enough about me (for now) I guess. Stay tuned for more interesting stuff!
